Healthy Nutrition for Kids: Believe and Visualize

By Kathryn Scoblick

Samantha was the head nutritionist for 6 years at the whole foods retailer Sun Harvest. She has eaten whole foods for over 15 years and owns a holistic retail store that sells natural healing products and teaches courses on herbal remedies and the like. She is rather advanced in her nutrition knowledge for the mainstream and she believes “you are what you eat.” She shared her wisdom and experience by saying, “If only an individual’s intent is to be healthier…that person will be healthier.” Samantha sees the power of intention and believing.

If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. -- Mark 9:23

Just like any other goal that you have made in your life, you set your goal and wrote it down, then broke it into smaller achievable parts. You must believe in what you want. These ideas are not new. They are found in the bible FIRST, and in any inspirational book, as well as on the lips of any motivational speaker. The bible tells us “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you receive it”; American author James A. Baldwin says “Be careful what you set your heart upon - for it will surely be yours.”; and, my favorite author and inspirational speaker, Dr. Wayne Dyer, said in one of his talks about “intention” is to keep thinking about what you want and your thoughts will eventually take you to action.

Believe. Believe in what you want for your child and place that belief in your thoughts. As a mother, I know that we as parents pray for our children’s health. So this prayer should help us to buy the right foods for their good health and encourage them to be active everyday. Think about what you want, believe in it and take it a step further to visualization. Visualize yourself being successful with the changes you want to create for your child. This visualization comes from believing and picturing it happen just as you want it to. Athletes are quoted all of the time saying they visualize themselves winning or swinging the bat just right or runners visualizing themselves running fast and crossing the finish line. Andre Agassi tennis pro and once ranked Number 1, having numerous titles throughout his career and winning his first Grand Slam in 1992 at Wimbledon says he has won Wimbeldon 10,000 times because he has visualized himself winning since he was 5 years old.

This helps us achieve, and God wants us to. He tells us so.

And whatever you ask for in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it .--John 14:13-14
